Anita has always felt a connection with animals and nature. In between doing pet portraits, to loosen things up, her acrylic paintings are done with colours inspired by nature and animals, to show the vibrant spirit of the animal caught in the moment! | What subject matter inspires you? I love nature and animals. I look for the way light falls on an animal and then I amplify it. What other artists inspire you? Anita McComas, Cindy Revell, Maurade Baynton What are you doing when you’re not creating art? I love competing in fun races, hiking, camping, reading, hanging out with my dogs. How long have you been creating art to show? I have been doing art full time now for almost 4 years, showing now for 3 years. What’s your background in? Education/work experience. I worked as a Mechanical Engineer for 15 years before leaving that behind to pursue a career in art. Are you formally trained artist or self taught? Self taught. How do you keep yourself inspired to create? I am thankful for this opportunity to create every day, just sitting in my studio early morning inspires me. What does your art say about you? I love animals and every one has a story to tell, capturing that in a painting, especially in the eyes is what is most important to me. |
