with Crystal Driedger

During this workshop you will learn the basics of illustration and how that can be applied to your own art practice. Crystal will demonstrate a typical illustrator's sketch process from idea to thumbnail to final sketch.  Learn how to manipulate and merge reference materials to give your work your own unique voice.  Once you finish your sketch we will transfer it to an illustration board and learn how to use many subtle layers of wash to develop your final piece.  Expand your current knowledge of acrylics by diving into Acrylic Wash and learn how to apply illustration techniques to your own fine art practice.  Acrylic wash is a technique used by scientific illustrators as well as artists, so it has many applications for a variety of styles.  There will be time for one-on-one instruction and plenty of encouragement along the way.  Prior experience is an asset, but beginners are welcome to try it out too.
