The Student Show features art from
 students in G
rades 10, 11 and 12, who are 
attending an accredited school / program 
in Strathcona County

 Opportunity for:

  • Your art to be for sale and exhibited publicly
  • All submissions to be juried for individual prize money in different Media categories, and First, Second and Third places in each grade. Prize monies generously provided by Strathcona County and County Clothesline Foundation. 
  • Your work to be exhibited in our weekend ASSC Student Art Show, Competition and Sale. Award winning selected works can move into Strathcona County's Gemstone Gallery at Emerald Hills Leisure Centre for one year.


Partnering the ASSC with Strathcona County and County Clothesline, to provide these opportunities, we celebrate our local youth's talent and hope to empower them to pursue their skills, passion and dreams. 

The physical show must comply with any current health restrictions in place. Drop off and Pick ups may be revised if necessary.

    WHEN IS THE 2025 SHOW?

    May 2nd, 2025, 7-9pm - Reception

    May 3rd, 2025, 12-4pm - Show open for viewing and sale.

    May 4th, 2025, 12-4pm - Show open for viewing and sale.


    WHERE IS THE 2025 SHOW?   

    A.J. Ottewell Community Centre (the Red Barn)

    590 Broadmoor Blvd.

    WHO CAN ENTER?

    Grade 10, 11, 12 and Special Ed. students attending an accredited school/program in Strathcona County.


    WHAT IS THE ENTRY FEE?

    There is no artist-entry fee for this show.

    STUDENT SHOW REGISTRATION


    Each student may enter ONE (1) piece of artwork.

    If a second entry is allowed, notice will be sent to the already registered participants.


    Hanging hardware
    : work must be hung by a hook. All 2D artwork must have wire or hanging bracket for our hooks.  

    All ART must be labelled with Student name, Title, Medium, School & Price.

    PART 1

    HOW AND WHEN DO I ENTER?  

    • Fill in the registration entry page with all info requested. Follow the hints and use proper grammar as this info makes your Art Labels
    • Students enter starting December 21, 2024 up to and including April 13th, 2025
    • Yes, you can register on weekends.
    • You will receive an email confirmation of your registration. This email will be your main contact method. 
    WHAT CAN I ENTER?
    • Update: ONE artwork piece per student 
    • All art must be original - no reproductions, it can be created at home or in school
    • Art that is created in class is accepted but the instructor must not have physically assisted in the creation. The exception to this rule is for the Special Education classes whereby it is understood instructor assistance is allowed. 
    • Photography and computer altered original photography allowed
    • Art must have been created in the last 2 years 
    • Art can be for sale, or just for exhibition. Sales are handled by the School/Student after this show. Buyer info will be collected.

          PART 2

          *PLEASE NOTE: Our 2025 Show will not be an online show*

          HOW DO I ENTER THE ONLINE SHOW? (if we declare it)

          • Fill in the registration entry page with all info requested. Follow the hints and use proper grammar as this info makes your Art Labels
          • Take an image of artwork. MIN 1500 KB and MAX 20 MB just for our reference (not for an online show)
          • Image must be good quality, in focus, highest resolution you can provide, not have flash points or shadows, have background distractions removed and no frame visible
          • Provide in .jpg or .jpeg format
          • 3D art, please send in 2 views, remove any background distractions
          • 2D art, one image without the frame showing, cropped to image only
          • Rename your image, save it on your computer, right click on the image and Rename as instructed below. At the same time crop it to remove background/frame, distractions. 
          • "Image Title, Artist Full Name, School, Grade, Medium, Sale Price"
          • (if applicable)  i.e.  "Jasper Lake", Ross Bob, ABJ, grade 10, pastel, $10

          Winning Art from the 2025 Student Art Show will be exhibited in the Gemstone Gallery!

          • The Art Society show will run May 2-4th. 2025 for that one weekend in the A.J. Ottewell building. Following that...
          • With your permission, the winning art from the Art Society show will be picked up by the County after the ASSC show.  Students will be contacted prior and details confirmed by the County representatives. The County has secured a permanent space, the Gemstone Gallery in the Emerald Hills Leisure Centre just for Youth Art!      Winning art will be on display for a one year period in this County Public space.
