Artist Biography
Connie grew up on a farm in Northern Alberta with her parents, younger brother and sister. Her art journey began as a teenager when she would draw the art contest picture that came in the weekly newspaper. As a young adult she dabbled in pencil, charcoal, graphite and conte. Many years later in 2013 health issues created an opportunity to renew her art journey. During this time she added mediums to include watercolor and acrylics which she loves as she gets to work with texture and color. She is inspired by the beauty of nature that surrounds her every day and loves taking photographs of mountains, landscapes, birds, flowers, and painting them.
Connie has taken art workshops through Frank Haddock, U of A Extension, Willie Wong, Crystal Driedger, Michael J. Downs, Brittney Tough, Susan Woolgar, Sylvia Russell, Donna Jo Massie, Cathy Wild, Ruth Adams, Marjorie Mae Broadhead, and Sharon Lynn Williams.
Currently a member of Sherwood Park Photography Group, the Hat Art Club in Medicine Hat and the Art Society of Strathcona where she will be showing her work publicly for the first time in the 2021 Fall Show Oct 15-17.
