Artist Biography
Cornelia, born and raised in Edmonton has been painting in oils since her high school years, later learning to paint in watercolors. She enjoyes painting a wide variety of subject matter in both oils and watercolors and has displayed and sold her work in both mediums at various venues in Edmonton and Sherwood Park. In 2004 Cornelia won 1st and 2nd prizes for her watercolor paintings of orchids in the "Orchid Society of Alberta" annual show, also winning the Vivian Thierifelder trophy for "best artistic image" in all categories. Cornelia volunteered her time to paint a large oil painting for Fort Edmonton Park. It depicts the Northcot steamer on the North Saskatchewan river in 1875. The painting is located on the rounding board along with 11 other artists' paintings, complimenting a fully functional authentic wood carved carousel built by many volunteers. The carousel was assembled in a specially built facility which opened to the public in 2006. Cornelia is also an "active" status member of the Society of Western Canadian Artists. Art and the people she meets continue to enrich her life.
