Artist Biography
Vincent studied art at McGill University in Montreal ((Honours BA in Fine Arts) but didn’t become a full time artist until after a lengthy career as a clinical psychologist (forensic specialization), and an academic (University of Alberta and Athabasca University). Most of that time was spent in the dark interiors of secure hospitals and prisons in Ontario, New York and Edmonton. Not surprisingly, Vincent’s art is inspired by the landscape beyond prison walls. He sketches (in pastel) en plein air whenever possible and his landscape oil paintings emphasize colour; he regards his work as landscape-inspired explorations in colour harmony more than descriptions of nature.
